 FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
« Thread Started on Mar 18, 2009, 10:18pm »

Read this FIRST BEFORE you PM someone with a question. If your question isn't here, then you may ask someone.

FAQs

What's PMing?
PM is short for personal message. PMs are private correspondance between two - or more - members. However, if you are reported to have been bothering somebody then that is counted as harrassment, and if it's proven - and there is a way to do that - then action will be taken.

There are two ways to PM. First way: you can click on the persons name and it will pop up their profile. It should say Send Personal Message. Or just personal message. Click that and then you can type up your message and send it to them

Second way: In their mini profile(which is the thing you see with their avatar and location and stuff to the left of the message) their will be some small icons. Click on the symbol that looks like an envelope. It will automatically pull up where you type up the message.

Where do I introduce myself?
Here. At this point we'd say please follow the introduction format - here - but I (Fee) will take the initiative and say that you don't have to follow it perfectly, but you have to give us a decent idea of who you are and what you like! We know you're a Twilight fan. That's why you're on a site called Twilight Fans Unite!

Why did I have to register before I could see anything?
Sorry about that. We were inindated with spam from guest posters - people even got hacked! - and it was the most effective way to stop it.

Okay... help!? How do I change my signature and avatar?
*sighs* Right, this seems to be a common difficulty. I'll start at the homepage.

1. Homepage. Below the banner there are a number of links which should change colour when you hover over them - [Home] [Help] [Search] [Members] etc. Find the one that says [Profile]. Click.

2. Profile. On your profile, which you can access via the main menu at the top underneath the banner. Click on Profile. On your profile page you will see a link which says Modify Profile. Click.

3. Modify Profile. Keep scrolling down until you have a drop-down menu next to "Avatar:". You can pick an avatar from there, or use the input line below to link to the picture from Photobucket or somewhere similar. Remember not to let your image be more than 100x100 pixels - the size can be changed in the two input lines below.

Personal text shows below your icon.

Signature is located below that box. This is trickier. I would advise using this code:
Code:
[center][img]YOUR IMAGE URL HERE[/img][/center]
This will show a signature. The image must be first uploaded to a graphics site, like Photobucket, and then linked.

From Modify Profile you can also change your skin and other things. If you want a "Custom Title" which appears below your name, PM one of the staff members. You can have anything.

Where are the best places to host pictures?
To host banners, wallpapers, and avatars you can go to these places.

http://www.imageshack.us [Now it's required for you to register]
http://www.pictiger.com
http://www.photobucket.com

If you need a program to make these items, then check out:

www.gimp.org

It is a free art program and fairly easy to use. See Misha's signature? She made it with gimp.

What's with the whole post count thing?
It's nothing important, just a number. You don't get prizes for posting a lot.

And the stars?
Just what are those stars next to your name? Well it's just meant for ranking, it's not anything important and mostly for show. Nobody pays it any attention really. Besides, you don't get them when you're in a group, only if you're staff.

If there are any other questions, PM a Myself, Misha, or another staff member for help.
